PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NEW YORK | | DRIVILLES SITE Port Jefferson Station home landscape before and after Work by Long Island Landscape Designs Inc. The consisted of an overhaul of the outdoor space giving a fresh new functional look, addressing the awkward sitting of the previous paved surfaces, and integrating better with the natural elements. The client desired an oasis-like retreat with green gardens, an active courtyard and a gentle water feature. To accomplish this, carefully selected high-end materials were incorporated into the design, such as locally sourced stone for the patio and pathways, to guarantee longevity and a natural appearance to fit-in with the Long-Island landscape. Native plants including ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs, were used to support biodiversity and reduce maintenance in the . The property was very undulating and this was one of our major challenges. The team carefully graded the land, forming tiered garden beds that offered visual interest, improved drainage, and plant health. We built a custom stone retaining wall that fixed these problems and became a great feature. At the heart of this was the construction of a peaceful pond and a waterfall that tumbles into the pond, creating calming sounds and attracting birds and other wildlife. This concern not only made the space more aesthetic, but also added more value to the ecosystem, while aligning with our sustainability values. The client was over the moon with the finished product an outdoor living space that feels like an extension of their home. It was not just the pathways, or the choice of plants, each element of the design was done thoroughly to give a cohesive but also inviting nature to the space.
