I worked on this as the Landscape Designer to completely redesign the outdoor space surrounding this hilltop family home to create more functional and useable outdoor space as well as enhance curb appeal. We kicked off the with an extensive discovery phase to determine our clients vision, taste, and lifestyle needs. The excellent plantings consisted of an array of indigenous perennials, grasses, and shrub species selected for their low-maintenance, environmental tolerance. We included a succession of flowering plants that would provide flowering at different times of the year so that the garden is never without colourful flowers at key times of the year. A notable aspect of this was the installation of an elegant natural stone pathway that gently meanders through the garden and leads to a comfortable seating area hidden under a nicely built wooden pergola. A charming setting, complete with climbing vines and twinkling string lights, ideal for outdoor entertainment. On top of that, it was a pretty rough lot, which needed good grading and solid drainage measures. Starting with leveling the land and creating a line of bluestone retaining walls built from local stone for drainage as well as rustic beautification. The final was an energy-efficient irrigation system that keeps the green space sustainable while using minimal water. Our careful sourcing of natural stone and mulch also shows how we value not just the quality of our product but also the environment.
