Brief: Castro Street Landscaping by The Garden Route Company The Garden Route Company is thrilled to present the landscaping on Castro Street, a transformative landscaping that has changed outdoor design in the heart of San Mateo. The landscaping is representative of our broad design character, as we serve the various communities of the Bay Area. The Castro Street landscaping incorporates a thoughtful combination of native plants, colorful flower beds, and carefully designed hardscapes. To offer an environmentally sustainable approach to exposure to nature, we selected drought resistant plant materials to nurture the natural beauty of the space. Lovely pathways of reclaimed stone invite users and visitors to meander through the lush gardens, and to connect their outdoor and indoor experiences. One of the challenges we tackled was the topography and top soil conditions. In response, our professional team was able to incorporate advanced drainage technology to manage excessive water runoff on the property, while also ensuring the sustainability of the landscape and the adjacent property infrastructure. To the extent possible, high quality materials were incorporated into the design, including nearby sourced boulders and permeable pavers, to promote a sustainable outdoor ecosystem. The finished product is a gorgeous oasis that exceeds and meets our client's vision. The newly renovated Castro Street outdoor space is sustainable, colorful, and vibrant all year round, creating places for gathering, play and nature. To see our client enjoyment of a space that was transfigured to be abode of nature was a fulfilling experience that redefines the goal of what makes The Garden Route company who we are.
