Canoe Lane Residence Located in a quiet neighborhood of Brownsboro Farm, the Canoe Lane Residence is a quintessential work of modern landscape architecture by Myers + Co. Landscape Architecture. The balances functional comfort with aesthetics to reimagine a typical suburban yard into a serene outdoor extension of the home. Key elements of the landscape at Canoe Lane include a beautiful multi-level patio built of locally-sourced and natural stone, which contributes to durability and a timeless look. A custom built fire pit at the heart of the patio serves gathering purposes and is surrounded by multiple, low-maintenance native plants that foster biodiversity and minimize water usage. An enjoyable meandering path of permeable pavers leads visitors through the garden, which is thoughtfully designed for multiple seasons of colorful blooms throughout the year. One of the most challenging features of this yard to overcome was a sloped and uneven landscape, which needed creative grading plans to convey proper drainage while maintaining the natural aesthetics of the landscape. Myers + Co. was able to successfully navigate this challenge with boulders and a colorful rock garden that stabilized the soil and enhanced the visual quality of the property. The result is a successful combination of hardscaping and softscaping that has far exceeded the client’s expectations.
