Located in the heart of Louisville's residential neighborhood, this serves as a wonderful example of our vision to connect people with nature and the landscape surrounding their modern living spaces. Beginning with a site analysis, we knew this property would present challenges to the design. The property had multiple elevations and some established and valuable significant trees we needed to consider. Our approach sought to enhance the site’s topography while maximizing the spatial utility. We designed and installed an exceptional assortment of hardy native plantsthe most functional, climate-appropriate, and pollinator-friendly plants we knew to use to support biodiversity. The most notable and noteworthy aspects of the Beverly Road landscape is a focal point bluestone patiothe entertainment space for hosting outdoor events/activities. These gatherings may include a custom-built fire pit for warmth and vibe use in the evenings. As the sun rises and sets on the patio, its surrounding plantings include perennial flowering plants and ornamental grasses positioned to provide texture and seasonal color. Material selection also focused on sustainability and resistance to on-going maintenance and included sustainable plant selection, premium quality materials, and permeable pavers assisting with subsurface drainage reduce on-going storm-water runoff. Additionally, our team coordinated a pond or water feature with the landscape to create soothing sounds and integrated seating opportunities to encourage interrupted enjoyment of the landscape. Our team addressed challenges of site drainage and protecting mature significant trees. Each challenge was addressed with our standard innovation, starting with a drainage plan and protective root management plans to protect existing assets. Our final landscaping approach offers a balance of functionality and beauty, all while embodying the homeowner's requests. The Beverly Road Residence is a welcoming outdoor respite.
