The Round Ridge Road Residence is an extraordinary that showcases our commitment to excellence and creativity in indigenous, sustainable landscape practices, and design for the old neighborhood Indian Hills. This full landscaping was intended to provide the homeowners with a welcoming outdoor environment, featuring local and native plants, natural stone hardscape, and sustainable practices throughout. The endeavor began with a thorough site assessment, which uncovered multiple areas that needed more drainage and healthy soils. At round ridge road we were able to accomplish both needs by incorporating permeable pavers throughout a portion of the drive and pathways, allowing rain water to naturally filter the ground while continuing to promote sustainability, thus providing a beautiful impact. The plan included an impressive array of perennial gardens immersed throughout to provide year round interest and color. We selected numerous drought tolerant plants, including coneflower and black-eyed susans, and enhanced views into ornamental grasses to extend the range of flowering throughout the warmer months during the seasons all while benefiting pollinators. The selection of natural stone materials for retaining walls and perimeter border allowed for our design to blend beautifully into the architecture of the home while providing a solid texture next to the surrounding landscape. A key feature of the was the custom built outdoor living area, complete with a shaded pergola and fire pit seating to encourage entertaining and family gatherings. At this outdoor area we used similarly high end weather-resistant materials and added ambient lighting layers to maximize enjoyment for the family to enjoy long after daylight. With this we faced numerous challenges including steep topography and limited access for heavy haulers. Our teams resourcefulness and planning enabled us to effectively mitigate these and proceed efficiently with the process and skillfully in person without devaluing the nature surrounding. The result is an attractively cohesive landscape that nourishes the functional needs for the homeowners while enriching the outdoor aesthetic of the Round Ridge Road residence.
