About This Project

Danes Hall Dr. Residence The Danes Hall Dr. Residence underwent a creative transformation by Myers + Co. Landscape Architecture to morph a mundane suburban yard into a lovely outdoor oasis embodying the elegance of its context in Louisville, KY. The design illustrates our effort to provide an impressive combination of quality and creativity through the thoughtful integration of hardscaping and softscaping. The backyard features an impressive stone patio made of local bluestone that is both visually inviting and durable for a place to host guests and enjoy leisure time outdoors! As we also focused on creating an aesthetically pleasing landscape, we included a variety of native plant species, including colorful perennials, ornamental grasses, and evergreen plants strategically placed to create interest during all seasons while contributing to local biodiversity. Elevation changes throughout the property presented a challenge in the design process. Our solution included carefully crafting terraced planting beds, creating visual variety and improving drainage and soil health. To aid in the transition between levels, we constructed a combination of boulders and natural stone retaining walls, providing a gradual grade change and encouraging a natural flow in and throughout the landscape. Ambient lighting was included in the patio design to increase the outdoor experience by highlighting the architecture of the house and providing safe pathways during evening entertaining. Water-efficient irrigation was incorporated to keep the landscape lush while reducing water usage for plant maintenance. In the end, a beautiful successful landscape enhanced the quality of the Danes Hall Dr. Residence, creating a fantastic garden retreat for the homeowners and their guests.
