Alder Lake - A Beautiful Landscape by Magee Design The Alder Lake , located in Aldie, showcases the creativity and excellence that Magee Design offers in all our landscaping s. The involved a complete redesign to create a peaceful lakeside retreat the client envisioned as usable outdoor space that blended with nature. To create this retreat, we applied many high-quality material choices, including natural stone pavers, permeable decomposed granite walkways, and native species that are beneficial for local habitat. The main feature of this was a beautiful water feature made from locally sourced boulders, designed with cascading water into an area that flows into the calm lake below. This creates such a great sound and life to even more local wildlife to the area. The site had a lot of elevation changes that added some difficulty, so we had to be creative with our design so we could have beauty and functionality with drainage. We designed a series of terraced gardens so that we could mitigate as much erosion as possible while exposing even more visual layers within the landscape. The terrace gardens contain a mix of perennial flowers, ornamental grasses, and carefully placed shrubs that provide year-round color and texture. The outcome of this job was a beautiful landscape seamlessly blended with the surrounding area. The client could not believe how beautiful the turned out with the design and execution. This job adds beauty to the property while also making it a wonderful space for gathering with family and friends.
