Mill Valley Modern Landscaping Design by The Garden Route Company Located in the picturesque Mill Valley, the 'Mill Valley Modern' landscaping design is proof of The Garden Route Company's commitment to quality and innovation. The modern outdoor space has been thoughtfully designed to complement the beauty of the natural surroundings, and allows the client to have the functionality they envisioned in a modern garden. This features a striking combination of hardscape and softscape, including modern flat stone paths created from granite that was harvested nearby to direct visitors through the native planting beds. In keeping with the modern aesthetic, we used reclaimed or sustainable materials when building the seating areas. The site's greatest challenge was the slope of the backyard, which posed watershed and drainage issues. Our professional team corrected the grading, created new drainage systems, and avoided soil erosion using intelligent methods for tiered beds, while allowing plenty of room for planting and topography. The end result is a lovely sanctuary that includes a water feature providing soothing sounds and attracting local wildlife, and a dining area for entertaining. The use of native plants, drought-tolerant in nature, is a beautiful landscaping function. The use of native plants also reduces the need for irrigation. Our clients were so pleased with the completed and shared that they now have the perfect place in the yard to gather with family and friends!
