Greystone Farm

Greystone Farm Completed by: Pierce Hill Design, Ltd. Situated in the scenic landscape of Westchester County, Greystone Farm is the result of the efforts of Pierce Hill Design, Ltd. This expansive turned a large property into an influential sanctuary of magical spaces and harmonious natural design. From the beginning, we were tasked with integrating the rustic farm sense of the landscape with modern, workable techniques. We hand selected plants with native characteristics that would successfully thrive in the climate with little maintenance, sustainability was always a goal. The design was populated with numerous perennial gardens, all carefully orchestrated to provide seasonal combinations of texture and color, prominent in the vision of our landscape. To accentuate the property's natural terracing, dry stone walls made from stone-bluestone were used to create breathtaking focal points, while also serving a functional purpose, like containing soil erosion. A meandering path made from reclaimed wood and gravel was designed to invite exploration throughout the property, while also connecting areas of the property in unexpected surroundings. An intricate irrigation system was designed to allow for seamless watering within the interesting gardens, while a pristine pond designed with a natural filtration system brought further serenity and wildlife into the property, for a more sustainable ecosystem. The challenge of steep slopes were creatively met with terracing in the landscape to enable usable outdoor spaces designed to be aesthetically pleasing. Specific outdoor seating areas were designed into the spaces, to create areas for the enjoyment of the surroundings comfortably. At last, we pulled together a beautiful finished product, an outdoor space that engaged as many senses as possible, attracted wildlife, promoted biodiversity, and encompassed the uniqueness of Greystone Farm. Our client was discerningly excited what could be done with their property, and the beautiful interplay of beauty and function that would deepen their connection to the outdoor experience surrounding them.
