Landscape Plantings by In Harmony Sustainable Landscapes We recently completed a beautiful landscaping called 'Landscape Planting' which has turned a typical yard into a little oasis. Serving many communities throughout Alderwood Manor and Ballard, we took on the task of creating this outdoor space that was not only beautiful but environmentally friendly and high-quality. The included a vibrant and nuanced design that highlighted native plants selected for their tolerance for the local climatic conditions and for less water. We implemented a mixture of bold perennials, drought-resistant shrubs and ornamental grasses which provided stunning seasons of blooms and colors. Our professional landscapers prepared the soil and laid in organic compost to ensure the plants received the nutrients necessary for healthy growth, while also supporting a healthy soil biology. An important challenge in this included the sloping yard of the property that required problem-solving for drainage and a location for plants; we designed a tiered planting bed that supported drainage functionality while adding depth and interest to the landscape. We sourced quality natural stone to edge the beds as to enhance both beauty and durability in defining the spaces for gardening. The landscape was stunning at completion, providing a happy client with a peaceful retreat in the backyard! Not only did the design improve the overall aesthetic of the property, but it also positively contributed to local biodiversity. By utilizing principles of sustainable practices, this landscape will be successfully maintained for years to come while providing beauty and calm for the homeowners and their neighbors in the heart of the puget sound area.
