The overall landscape renovation includes an incredible collection of native plants and well-constructed hardscape, creating a breathtaking outdoor space. The began with a very analysis of the site, looking for features such as sunlight, aspect, and soil. After conducting a thorough analysis of the space, drought-tolerant, low-maintenance plants were selected. Along with the plants, a large palette of evergreen plants, ornamental grass, and flowering perennials were selected to provide continual interest. A pathway of stone delineated the planted areas and directed everyone who passes through the outdoor space of the adjacent residence. The most significant challenge during the was engaging the natural slope of the site. Studio 342 incorporated tiered terraces with wall that were locally sourced materials, creating functional outdoor spaces that were blended into the property. Not only did this address the natural slope of the site, it also improved accessibility, and complemented the aesthetic of the property. Using a sustainable practice, a rain garden was designed to capture the stormwater runoff and reestablish some ecological balance and provide habitat for native species. Permeable pavers were used for the driveway materials and created a stylish entrance to the residence while simultaneously having the least impact to the environment. The end result was a stunning landscape that personified the homeowner's vision of serene beauty. The quality design and craftsmanship produced an incredible ecological and aesthetic improvement to the Spirit Ridge Residence that provide incredible expression of the community's overall aesthetic.
