Crisp Capitola K & D Landscaping, Inc. is excited to showcase 'Crisp Capitola', a that reflects innovation and beauty in Capitola. A full landscaping , the goal was to create an outdoor living area for a residential property in order to provide some sense of retreat that closely resembles and connects with the outdoor coastal stream. As part of the design process, we choose an arrangement of drought-tolerant plants (mainly native California shrubs and hummingbird/bees perennials) to ensure a flourish landscape with minimal water. A natural stone pathway utilizing locally sourced flagstone was constructed to connect the various spaces within the garden while providing focal access that felt organic. Based on the yard’s scope, we thought it necessary to incorporate custom-built wood privacy screens used to create cozy and private client spaces to accommodate for an open view while changing the overall atmosphere. The sloping topography of the property posed challenges that we needed to consider before we made any major decisions. To address sloping topography, we designed and installed a series of terraced garden beds that offered a dimensional, deep sense of space while maintaining proper drainage and soil retention. Each terrace was scarfed or reinforced with eco-friendly materials to ensure durability while maintaining an eco-friendly integrity. While we were challenged by sloping topograph, ultimately, 'Crisp Capitola' came together as a lovely design. The family was pleased to have an outdoor space with beautiful/ lively color and variation in texture with the season. The water feature also provided a peaceful sense of ambiance by not only adding soothing sounds but attracting local wildlife. Overall, the satisfied the curb appeal and created a lovely experience for the family.
