About This Project

Outdoor Ambience by K & D Landscaping, Inc. In downtown Santa Cruz, the 'Outdoor Ambience' was designed and developed to showcase the unique craftsmanship and talents of K & D Landscaping, Inc. for the benefit of Santa Cruz County communities including Amesti, Aptos, Capitola, and more. This landscaping was designed for the purpose of creating a relaxing outdoor space which fits the surrounding climate and environments. The outdoor 'Outdoor Ambience' featured a beautiful stone tailor-made flagstone path that wound through the native plant gardens. This path served as both an enhancing feature of accessibility while sliding visitors through a vibrant mix of color and texture. Furthermore, all the plants that landscaped the gardens were selected as drought-resistant plants, demonstrating the degree the plants were selected to grow and thrive in the coastal climate. Thus, the plants were also low maintenance, demonstrating sustainability. One of the major difficulties in constructing the was working with terrain that sloped down. In response, our professional team could grade and level the site, and utilized natural stone to create retaining walls that provided specimen features while creating stability to the . We also custom-built a new wooden trellis that was framed with climbing jasmine flowers to establish a wood focal point that the element of fragrance could welcome friends and family to sit and enjoy the space. Outdoor ambient lighting placed on key locations throughout the allowed the client to experience the garden and landscape at dusk. For continuity, the soft, accent light diffuse warmly on the gardens and pathways. Ultimately, the 'Outdoor Ambience' resulted in a landscape that beautifully met and exceeded the clients' expectations. With harmony between natural factors and design, the landscape became a perfect space for gatherings, quiet moments, and everything in-between.
