About This Project

Five Gables Located within Lansdale, the 'Five Gables' landscaping by Hess Landscape Architects beautifully incorporates functionality and aesthetics together. This ambitious transformed an ordinary yard into a captivating outdoor oasis with multiple features for relaxing and entertaining. Most notably, the design incorporates a multilayered garden of plant species native to our climate that promote year-round interest with minimal maintenance. Elegant stone paths made from locally sourced bluestone meander through the landscape connecting spaces and enhancing the property's natural flow. By building a fire pit with comfortable seating next to each other as a main gathering space for family and friends, we further enhanced outdoor living with strategically placed outdoor lighting after the sun goes down to create ambiance. A primary challenge for our team was navigating an undulating site. We transformed unevenness with retaining walls made from reclaimed wood and local boulders, creating many visually appealing layered terraces that also stabilized the site while also creating separate areas for herbs, perennials, and ornamental grasses. Due to the collaborative planning; precise execution and craftsmanship, the team delivered a final that met the client’s goals and exceeded their dreams. The Five Gables is a testament to the quality of our work and dedication to detail while creatively integrating nature with the human experience in an outdoor space for many years to come.
