Moroccan House Paul Hendershot Design, Inc. Tucked away in Santa Barbara, Paul Hendershot Design, Inc. specializes in landscape design inspired by the vast and colorful intricacies of Moroccan design. This landscape is distinct and completely transforms a typical suburban yard into an exotic oasis of bold color, pattern, and greenery tied to the Moroccan lifestyle. Our team started off by selecting a palette of drought-tolerant plants that are suited to a Mediterranean climate. Our goal was to create a lush exotic look that would be sustainable and thrive in Indigo. The main focus of the landscape is a mosaic-tiled fountain that is built from custom tile spaced from segments of traditional Moroccan patterns and incorporates the visual balance of the Moroccan fountain with the peaceful sound of falling water. There were challenges in managing the uneven terrain and in having a part of the yard only receiving limited sunlight. These challenges were successfully solved through strategic plant placements and the simple addition of tiered garden beds, built with locally-sourced stone to fit in with the organic textures of the house. To promote the Moroccan lifestyle, wrought-iron gates and trellises were designed specifically for this ; one that is richly planted with vibrant bougainvillea and flowering jasmine to create a strong visual experience covering the gates and trellises. The client's existing patio area was extended into a stylish outdoor living space that features hand-painted ceramic tile with comfortable seating for entertaining guests or simply enjoying a quiet evening under the stars. Ambient night lighting was included to highlight the intricate textures and colors of the landscape while providing comfort and a captivating ambiance of magic once the sun goes down. We created a dramatic landscape that fits the clients visual expectations in a way that enhances the value and aesthetic information of the property. The process of this landscape is completely recognizable of the quality of our craftsmanship, and creativity in design from Paul Hendershot Design, Inc.
