Once again, we fulfilled the requirements of the site with a tiered garden design that worked with the rugged ridgeline while assuring that the house and patio felt connected to the garden. Large, locally sourced limestone retaining walls templatized the slope and provided stability, and the walls did so by matching the topography and size of the site. These walls gave functional textures and surfaces for planting but also served as aesthetic barriers, creating levels to plant and lounge in. This also included a patio, custom fabricated from flagstone and melding into the naturalized landscape, as a second outdoor living space where gatherings can occur or place to relax outdoors. The fire pit was centrally placed and surrounded with seating to create a welcomed space to enjoy the Texas evenings, that will surely see year-round enjoyment.
