Vegetable Gardens by Paul Hendershot Design, Inc. At Paul Hendershot Design, Inc., we have just completed an exciting and bold Vegetable Gardens that took a fresh look at sustainable landscaping. Based in Ojai, we have completed s in the beautiful towns of Ojai, Santa Paula, Ventura, Camarillo, and beyond, and we were ready to create an exciting, useful space that not only beautifies their home and landscape but represents a commitment to a healthier way to live. This consisted of a series of raised garden beds made of high-quality naturally rot-resistant cedar. We refinished the soil that included soil amendments and organic fertilizer to suit the specific crop selections of our client to ensure that everything was primed to grow and produce an abundance of crops. The design intent and layout of the beds were thoughtfully designed to maximize sun exposure and allow for easy access to maintain the beds while incorporating decomposed granite pathways to tie everything back to the landscape. One of the challenges we encountered was the area was rocky and uneven, which is common in the area. Our team leveled the space and implemented drainage measures to ensure that all crops could grow with success during the rainy season. A drip irrigation system was also put in place to water efficiently and sustainably while reducing wasted water. In the end, the color and life of the vegetable beds were beautiful and impressive heirloom tomatoes, colorful peppers, and herbs. The visitors were pleased, and enjoying the wonderful harvest and wonderful garden space. Not only is this consistent with the client's vision, but it also showed that we value superior work and that our investment in innovative design continues to pay off so Vegetable Gardens can remain a strong element of our portfolio.
