Summary: Noe Valley Retreat by The Garden Route Company Located in San Francisco, the Noe Valley Retreat is an exceptional renovation by The Garden Route Company, which is known for its superb landscape services around the Bay Area. There were some unique conditions that presented challenges to the landscape team, including a steep slope and very limited access to the property. We began the with the design of a multi-level landscape that fully utilized the space and improved the function. The plants selected for the were all drought-tolerant, including colorful succulents and native California plants, which provide sustained color year-round and fit the client's sustainability goals. Natural stone pathways provided a natural transition and flow throughout the garden, inviting guests to flow from one space to another. To enhance the outdoor atmosphere of the retreat, we added a calming water feature that not only served as a focal point, but also created a soothing sound throughout the space. Several custom-designed sitting arrangements made from reclaimed wood allowed relaxation and enjoyment of the beautiful garden. In addition, we installed energy-efficient LED light fixtures to highlight different areas of the garden during evening gatherings. In a detail-oriented manner, we also provided thoughtful solutions to other issues in the yard such as soil erosion and drainage problems, which create longevity and environmental health to the landscape. The end result was a beautiful retreat that fit naturally into the surroundings and satisfied the client's need for a private outdoor space away from the busy city.
