About This Project

Lower Water Tract Home Paul Hendershot Design, Inc. is delighted to showcase the transformation of the Lower Water Tract Home, where landscaping meets practice and natural beauty. The is located in the beautiful heart of Ventura County, with a goal of improving outdoor living that addresses the challenges of the site and the climate. The landscaping features an incredible selection of native plants chosen for their drought tolerant and climate appropriate characteristics to form a palette of texture and color. The used local stone for the path and the retaining wall, bringing the home and its landscape together seamlessly. A new irrigation system was installed to reduce water use while keeping the landscaping green and healthy. One of the main challenges of this was to conform to the site's uneven terrain, which took planning and grading in order to create usable outdoor spaces. Using design developed on-site, tiered gardens were constructed in such a way that they invite users to embrace their beauty while functionally accommodating places to gather, relax, and entertain. The result is a beautiful landscaping that makes the homeowners happy and attracts the many creatures of the local wildlife, providing a peaceful environment.
