About This Project

Description of the Longest Avenue Residence Myers + Co. Landscape Architecture is excited to present the Longest Avenue Residence, where we have significantly redesigned a large outdoor space to include both beauty and utility. It is situated in a rural part of Louisville, which allowed access to our quality design and service to clients in Brownsboro Farm, Green Spring, Hurstbourne Acres, and more. The process began with a hillside lot. We converted it into tiered gardens using natural stone retaining walls which displayed beauty, yet provided stability in the space. A mix of native and ornamental plants were selected for their aesthetics, ability to maintain visual interest throughout the year, and encourage a local biodiversity. The selection includes perennials, shrubs, and shade trees that can perform in the local climate. We created a large custom-cut patio made of permeable pavers that provides drainage yet a beautiful space to gather. The patio includes a gathering space near a fire pit allowing space to rest and enjoy family and communal gatherings. The patio and gathering space also allowed us to keep sustainable practices. Water conservation was achieved with an irrigation system that helps maintain a green space. We took great care in the design and installation of the existing mature trees within the new landscape. The trees’ health and longevity were incorporated with the overall design of the landscape. As we began the , we easily defined transitional spaces of old to new to create an engaging and cohesive design. The outcome is a beautiful outdoor landscape that will serve the residents' needs and then some. The Longest Avenue Residence is a true statement artistry and craftsmanship of Myers + Co. Landscape Architecture, and our clients were beyond happy to have a new outdoor space from which they can enjoy their outdoor homes.
