About This Project

Golden Gate Heights Zen Space The Garden Route Company has completed the Golden Gate Heights Zen Space, a stunning vision converting a craggy urban hillside into a peaceful retreat. Located in San Francisco, this showcases a balance of beauty and tranquility to enhance the client's outdoor living experience. To achieve the Zen aesthetic, we chose quality materials, including reclaimed Japanese granite, bamboo, and California natives. The design includes a winding gravel path, which takes visitors throughout lush plantings to a peaceful koi pond with a meditation area, surrounded by ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs. The pond is constructed from eco-friendly materials and includes a gentle waterfall, where the water creates soothing sounds in the space. We faced some challenges due to the steep slope during the , demanding some innovating stability and ease of access techniques. Our talented landscape architects created retaining walls with natural stone to facilitate tiered planting beds. This added two levels of intrigue, while creating bedding. We also installed a drainage system to curb rainwater runoff and extend the garden life. The final product is a harmonious interplay between nature and design to invite comfort and reflection. The delighted client now has a space to retreat and entertain friends and family.
