Princeton 2 Harold Leidner Landscape Architects is thrilled to present the finished Princeton 2 an extraordinary transformation in the center of North Dallas. With clients from Addison, Coppell, University Park, we created this with the unique aesthetic preferences of the neighborhood in mind; Princeton is emblematic of our dedication to craftsmanship and artistry in the art of landscape construction. To create a tranquil escape, the Princeton 2 landscape is a composed marriage of both native plants and refined hardscaping. The plant selection marries a variety of vibrant, seasonal blooms, and drought tolerant natives that reflect the unique climate of Texas, while ornamental grasses paired with flowering shrubs create a vibrant and inviting landscape that closely relates to the local ecology; native plant establish networks with local pollinators and other parts of the ecosystem. One of the challenges we faced with this was the uneven grade that would require some grading to engineer a transition between adjacent spaces; ultimately, retaining walls were used to create solidity and structure in the landscape. We obtained native limestone from a local supplier to create striking, organic stone walls that provide structure to the landscape while creating a polished and natural field of stones. For pathways, we utilized permeable paving materials as opposed to traditional concrete to accommodate drainage while creating a natural aesthetic. Water features were also a significant part of the Princeton 2 , which included a custom pond that became the central focus for the front yard. We designed the pond to incorporate a natural element with the calming sound of flowing water paired with a geo-paver seating area to create quiet places to sit and relax with nature and water. All of this lush landscaping is constructed to allow the client to connect with nature and provide an oasis from life, and for years to come. The end result transformed the client's yard into a spectacular space that they had envisioned while also contributing significant design to elevate the overall value of the property.
