Colorful Curb Appeal 'Colourful Curb Appeal, on the other hand'with a typical front yard revegetated as a demonstration of sustainable beauty for clients in the heart of Silicon Valley & The Peninsula, with installation by Hortus Design Sustainable Landscapes A design incorporating a diversity of native and drought tolerant species carefully situated to provide seasonal interest in the form of various textures and colors. Some of the highlights included drought-resistant succulents, fragrant flowering shrubs and ornamental grasses that attract pollinators and all chosen for the local climate and reduced water usage. We added a lovely path out of flagstone and local stone, winding through the greenery. A wooden trellis was also included in the garden, with climbing vines adding vertical interest and attracting wildlife to the garden. The was not without its challenges, from rough geography to low-quality soil, but we had to be creative and innovative to get the job done. With a well-rounded soil amendment plan that created an ideal seedbed and a landscape that was graded to promote both drainage and beauty, our team got to work. The end product was a beautiful front yard that worked to balance and not only enhance the curb appeal of the property but the surrounding environment as well. The feedback we received from our clients was nothing short of fabulous and what truly touched them was the way the new landscape brought together beauty with sustainability.
