About This Project

Woodbine Horn & Co. (formerly JHLA) puts the final touches on "Woodbine," a beautiful transformation that was done in the heart of Northern Virginia. Serving several clients throughout Alexandria, Arlington, Bethesda, and beyond; our team set out to design a serene place outdoors that blended practicality and beauty. The Woodbine was a large layout, filled with native plants, some hardscape, and elements that would fit comfortably into the natural setting. We chose the best materials available in the area to construct pathways and furniture out of locally sourced stone and sustainably grown hardwoods.... No expense was spared to create beautiful and durable materials. The centerpiece of this was a custom water feature. The space was personally designed and built to provide a visual cue that connected the home to landscape while also producing calming sounds of trickling water. One of the challenges for the Woodbine was the variance of topography Uniquely to this , our team came up with creative grading strategies to increase accessibility and ensure surface drainage. Our trained staff created erosion control and rehabbing techniques to reshape the landscape for the property while protecting the existing ecosystem. In the end, the finished product is a beautiful outdoor space that exceeds the client's imagination, with textured gardens bursting with colorful perennials, open social areas, and a relaxing water feature. The Woodbine is a culmination of Horn & Co.'s commitment to quality craftsmanship and client satisfaction; we delivered a landscape that adds to the sale value of the property and improves the lives of those who inhabit it.
