About This Project

Bethesda Modern by Horn & Co. Horn & Co. (Formerly known as JHLA) is proud to present the Bethesda Modern landscape , which signifies our collective effort to supercharge outdoor living in the heart of Bethesda. This is a culmination of our effort focused on quality and innovation within Alexandria, Arlington, and surrounding communities. The landscaping conveys a modern tone complemented by the natural environment, using clean lines blended with colorful plant material. We used quality materials such as locally sourced stone for the patio and custom-cut bluestone for the pathways in and around the patio with a focus on durability and style. We also created an experience of low maintenance native planting ensuring sustainability throughout the seasons. One of the site's challenges was the uneven nature of the site which required an expert solution to grading and drainage to avoid water pooling. Our team implemented a significant drainage solution that blended into the landscape to ensure durability and function. The end result is a stunning outdoor space with a contemporary fire pit enveloped in plant material, an equally large terrace for entertainment purposes, and a quiet water feature to compliment relaxation. More importantly, the end result met, and exceeded the client's expectations, enhancing their outdoor experience while reflecting their lifestyle, and raising property values.
