About This Project

San Francisco Modern The Garden Route Company is happy to share "San Francisco Modern", a dramatic overhaul of an urban outdoor area that blends modern design with the natural setting of the Bay Area. Located in the city center of San Francisco, this reflects our commitment to high-quality craftsmanship and innovative landscaping. This includes polished hardscaping and softscaping with custom concrete pathways, stone seating areas, and interesting planters made from sustainably sourced materials. To fit with the modern aesthetic, we included drought-tolerant plant species like succulents and native California grass varieties to highlight environmental stewardship. One of our challenges was a small outdoor area for landscaping, typical of a city environment. Our team overcame this problem by creating vertical gardens and multiple level terraces, maximizing the vertical dimension of the outdoor area while providing visual interest. To complete the , we designed an efficient irrigation system to optimize water use and keep the landscape lush year-round. The end result is an urban getaway that exceeds our client's vision. The modern aspects, combined with the natural landscape, provide a retreat for relaxation and enjoyment. Our client was thrilled that the outdoor area was no longer a concrete slab but served as an extension of their home for entertaining guests or lounging in the center of a big city.
