Craigie Brae Katherine Field and Associates are excited to share 'Craigie Brae' - a major landscaping that creates a tranquil escape within the broad confines of a residential site. Located in the beautiful Newport area, this is representative of our pride in quality workmanship, as well as innovative design. The landscape is established with a thoughtful balance of native plants, and other plant species, to actualize the natural beauty of the landscape whilst promoting sustainability. The design includes a handcrafted stone path of local bluestone, leading through two gardens and onto an outdoor entertaining area. One of the many challenges we encountered, like many Melbourne sites, was the slope of the property. In this case, Katherine Field and Associates designed tiered garden beds with natural stone retaining walls, which define contour in both a deliberate way and add visual interest. A thoughtful irrigation system ensures the health of the diverse planting palette with the inclusion of low-voltage uplighting creating a feature in the evening, when the landscape can be further appreciated. The end result is an amazing outdoor retreat that balances form and function and delights the client with its functional beauty. At 'Craigie Brae' each element of the design has been intentionally curated to create an oasis that exemplifies the formality of Newport, conveying the quality experience had by the clients - standards met by Katherine Field and Associates.
