Little Compton Residence Katherine Field and Associates is excited to present the 'Little Compton Residence', a delightful renovation that reflects our passion for landscaping. Located in a beautiful coastal area of Little Compton, this reflects a delight of intricate landscaping and informative design to suit the specific needs of our client. The began with a site analysis and concluded with an understanding of the complications of uneven grades and a lack of usable outdoor spaces. Our team was able to successfully navigate these complications by designing sophisticated terracing in nearby locally quarried granite stones to visually connect the interior of the home to existing multiple outdoor living spaces. The terracing creates an inviting garden with multiple levels of exploration. Landscape highlights included a meadow-based native garden, offering seasonal vibrance; the native garden is intelligently placed for local pollinators. Additionally, drought tolerant, high-quality plants were selected for sustainability and for maintenance purposes. Other landscape features included a beautiful meandering bluestone pathway that not only creates a visual link through the garden but also provides a practical means of transport from all parts of the new garden. Another focal point of the renovation was a water feature, featuring an existing pond with a waterfall. The feature was designed specifically to create a visual and audible point of interest that would complement the serenity of the landscape. Materials and techniques used were environmentally considerate and should provide an ecological contribution to the area. In conclusion, the completed transcends our client's perceived expectations of their vision for a space to retreat and gather together in the New England feel. The design and level of craftsmanship provided a space that they are excited to use daily while respecting the natural beauty of Little Compton.
