A custom stone pathway made from locally harvested bluestone weaves through the garden, guiding guests through the proposed outdoor spaces. A prime consideration was the difficulty of working with the site's natural topography, which included a steep slope and rocky site condition. We developed a tiered garden approach using retaining walls from locally gathered natural stone to establish an iconic yet functional solution. This construction method provided accessibility while addressing erosion and improving drainage. We incorporated an example of a sustainable practice model with a rain garden that captures and filters stormwater runoff to create an environmentally sensitive design. We also designed an irrigation system that promotes efficiency while keeping the garden abundant year-round. The final product is a truly impressive landscape that is incredibly serene and refined, with a curated outdoor living space that provides a fire pit, and seating for social gatherings.
