About This Project

Fall In The Foothills Iris Design Associates is excited to present "Fall In The Foothills," a beautiful landscaping makeover that represents the beauty of fall while enhancing the client’s rustic property in northern Virginia. Located in this beautiful area, we took advantage of the beautiful foliage and hardscapes to transition from form to function. To get started, we assessed the site extensively to identify areas to help maximize views of the property and beyond. We also added plant sourced from local native plant nurseries, like colorful maples and frost hardy asters, that would sustain seasonal interest in the changing weather. To further emphasize sustainability, for the pathways, we used permeable pavers to help channel guests while being elegant and connivance to walk on to the multiple seating areas to help entertained sit back enjoy nature's beautiful colors changing with the seasons. One of the biggest challenges we faced, given the properties' topography, was creating creative grading solutions to create level areas, both for planting beds and the hardscape. Our talented team provided creative solutions to reinforce slopes and created drainage channels whenever necessary to extend the landscaping longevity. The highlight of the is the one-of-a-kind fire pit with natural stone seating and a landing zone to help gather your family or friends on crisp fall evenings. We added subtle lighting to provide maximum context at dusk within the landscape and not only help kick back but feel like a part of the outdoors even after the sun sets. The result of "Fall In The Foothills" is a stunning oasis that not only provides pure delight to our clients but also fits comfortably within in the charming aesthetics of Bealeton and its neighboring properties in changing landscapes. This fits well as a narrative, authentic to Iris Design Associates vision and commitment to excellence, and further showcases our talent in overcoming site conditions, to develop excellent customized authentic landscapes that complement the natural landscape.
