About This Project

Highland Park - Outdoor Living Area Southern Land Design is a premier design/build firm, excited to detail to you the transformation of an outdoor living area into a luxury space. Located in the heart of Highland Park, this reflects our passion for quality and creativity that serves clients in University Park, Casa Linda, Fair Park, Oak Cliff, Preston Hollow, Redbird, and Uptown. Before we began design, we had a thorough consultation with the client to understand the dream of this outdoor living sanctuary. The centerpiece is a multi-level stunning patio with beautiful durable travertine pavers, that add elegance to the space. Surrounding the patio are very green and native planting beds with different flowering perennials and ornamental grasses that are colorful year-round with little care. The biggest challenge the presented was the elevation change throughout the site. Our team designed this terrace landscape to add interest, but also to be drained properly and kept from eroding. It was enhanced with natural stone retaining walls built from stone supplied to us from the region that added rustic elements to the space while still providing an adequate landscape wall. In this outdoor living area, we also included a full outdoor kitchen cooking area with grill, granite counters, and ample seating. Next to the outdoor cooking area is a fire pit gathering spot to enjoy evenings under the stars. All the seating areas have lighting dispersed throughout the landscape to highlight the perennials and grasses and provide a warm glow at night. In the end, this outdoor living area looks amazing and incorporates the client’s lifestyle into their property; adding value! Whether gathering for a family dinner or entertaining a group of friends, the Highland Park Outdoor Living Area is an exemplary vision of landscape design and a realization of Southern Land Design's commitment to creating customized, luxury spaces designed for our clients' unique needs.
