Ramakrishnan Residence The Ramakrishnan Residence , completed by Richard Kattman Landscape Architecture, is a perfect example of how design can enhance nature. Located in the beautiful town of Wellesley, MA, this outdoor living renovation expanded, transformed and redefined the outdoor living experience for the homeowners. The began with an on-site consultation that allowed the family to explain their desires and needs for a multi-functional outdoor living space that was both serene and holistic. One of the difficulties of the area was that the sloped yard required creative and innovative thinking to develop usable, level areas where people would be able to relax and entertain their guests. The proposed and implemented solution included natural stone retaining walls that provided level areas to be utilized as outdoor living spaces while matching the rusticness of the home. The landscape included a great variety of native plants. The reasoning behind this included durability and low maintenance. The plants included flowering perennials, ornamental grasses and evergreens that provided year round enjoyment as well as helped steward the ecosystems of the area. Central to the landscape is a beautiful bluestone patio that allows for family and friend gatherings. The patio is situated for easy visual connectivity to the interior of the home while facing the wooded edge of the property. Along pathways and garden beds, soft LED lighting was added to increase the experience at night without overwhelming and detracting from the natural beauty of the landscape. The finished is a beautiful retreat the client is thrilled with that balances aesthetics and functional experiences. The Ramakrishnan Residence is a great example of Richard Kattman Landscape Architecture's commitment to quality product with innovative design all maintained in the greater Boston area and beyond.
