Lieberman Residence, Brookline, MA Completed by Richard Kattman Landscape Architecture Richard Kattman Landscape Architecture turned a conventional yard into a magical outdoor space at the Lieberman Residence in Brookline, MA. This was a demonstration of our focus on quality materials and innovative design to marry function and beauty. The landscape design highlights a remarkable collection of native plantings that were incorporated in strategic locations to highlight seasonal color while creating biodiversity. Rehabilitated perennials and ornamental grasses formed an eco-healthy system that was both vibrant and low-maintenance. Designed with locally sourced granite, natural stone pathways gracefully linked various exterior spaces together, providing a sense of adventure and repose in the landscape. The was challenged by a sloped site. To manage the slope, we created a series of gently terraced garden beds with retaining walls constructed of reclaimed timber, which provided stability and rustic accents to the landscape. To support proper drainage while also protecting the ecological integrity of the site, we revised the initial installation conditions to better inspire the flow of movement. As the neared completion, the safety landscape featured a well-connected multi-use space inclusive of a relaxing garden sitting area perfectly located under an established tree canopyall wonderful outdoor spaces for reflecting and entertaining. Much to our client's satisfaction, the Lieberman Residence is transformed with a dynamic landscape that invites family and friends to dwell outdoors throughout the year.
