Lenfest Residence Richard Kattman Landscape Architecture transformed a conventional suburban yard at the Lenfest Residence into a stunning outdoor environment that balances aesthetics and usability. Located in the heart of Wellesley, this showcases our exceptional craftsmanship and innovative design. The landscape is adorned with a diverse palette of native plantings that will encourage biodiversity and beautify the yard. On the property, seasonal and year-round colors stimulate interest through durable perennials, ornamental grasses, and shrubs that are carefully designed with an array of colors, textures, forms, and heights. To navigate this beautiful landscape, winding granite paving from local side quarry aids guests as they explore the unabashed plant life. A custom cedar pergola offers an oasis with beautiful shade and endless patio furniture options for a retreat or entertainment setting. The primary complication of this was resolving the variety of existing elevations when examining the site. Terracing, natural stone retaining walls on three different elevations, and intentional draining zones allowed for moderately interfacing functional spaces, while also allowing for drainage and stability of the soil. The effect adds visual interest of layers of space and improves usability within this outer space. This speaks volumes to the importance of marrying nature with design that exceeded the client's expectations. The delicate water feature trickles through the space and aides the landscape with tranquil sound.
