This extensive landscaping took a steep and typical suburban yard and created a beautiful outdoor space that balances function with nature. The starts with a thorough site analysis, which considered both opportunities and constraints. The site was challenging and steep, but our talented team embraced these characteristics to create multi-leveled gardens that enhanced the beauty and experience of the site. We integrated native planting that adapted well to New England's cold climate and would thrive for decades to come. Furthermore, we strategically planned diverse planting areas to give the yard a full spectrum of colors as the seasons shifted. Prominent features of the design included handsome stone retaining walls made of locally quarried boulders, which charged the yard a rustic old-world vibe while managing any elevation changes. A winding path of permeable pavers heavily featured throughout to provides water drainage and reduced runoff in a highly inviting way. This path connected the different garden rooms that we designed for different intentions, such as relaxation, play, or entertaining, and served as the landscape's backbone. The patio area is the focal point of the , made of quality, natural bluestone with our custom seating and fire pit, it's a place for families to gather and enjoy dinner and drinks. Surrounded by plenty of ornament grasses and flowering perennials it was subtle enough not to overwhelm, while also reaping the innocuous benefits of inviting local wildlife and encouraging biodiversity. Our team was able to successfully address the site's challenges with planning for proper drainage and soil stability. Our engineer led us to formulating an effective drainage strategy derived from a good grading plan; we took extra measures to use quality landscape fabrics to accomplish what we had set out to achieve. In the end, our clients were thrilled with their property redesigned as a functional outdoor space that allowed them to enjoy nature, beauty, and space. The Walpole Street enhanced the curb appeal of the property and provided a new use of the outdoor area, but above all it provided a functional outdoor space where the family could enjoy relaxation and entertaining guests outside.
