### Rubin Residence, Needham, MA Richard Kattman Landscape Architecture is proud to take residential outdoor spaces and transform them into outdoor retreats. The Rubin Residence in Needham, MA demonstrates our commitment to quality and creativity with outdoor spaces. The involved a complete redesign of the exterior spaces, which integrates a balance of function and aesthetics. The main idea is a large, multi-level patio constructed of high-quality bluestone that provides a durable yet elegant surface for entertainment and relaxing. Native plantings surround the patio so that while they add biodiversity to the design, they also carry on as low maintenance in the climate. Our team was challenged with issues of existing grade and drainage function on this site. Our team was able to create on-site improvements for these functions to ensure the landscape functions and remains healthy year-round. An additional feature to further enhance the experience outdoor, is a fire pit with furniture for an inviting gathering area beneath the stars. Landscape lighting was thoughtfully placed to highlight the beauty of the plantings and architecture, while also creating an inviting atmosphere at night. Ultimately, the feedback from the clients has been overwhelmingly positive and has transformed their yard into a beautiful oasis reflecting their family's needs and adds value to the property.
