Farm Pool

Farm Pool by Iris Design Associates Iris Design Associates is excited to share the 'Farm Pool' a highly designed and constructed pool that celebrates the beauty of outdoor living and connects with the surrounding natural landscape of Northern Virginia. In the rural countryside of this beautiful region, we completed a pool with functional outdoor spaces and gardens for our clients residing in Bealeton, Brandy Station, and surrounding locations. The main feature of this is the custom pool, with coping cut from natural stone to match the rustic vernacular appeal of the home place. We layered in LED lighting for energy efficiency, so the pool sparkles at night while keeping energy consumption efficient. We constructed a large deck of sustainably forested ipe wood to nestle around the existing shade trees. To further enhance the pool and complete the picture, we included native plants that perform well in the regional climate. As a result, a vibrant patchwork of color presents itself throughout the seasons. We thoughtfully selected low-maintenance perennial flowers and ornamental grasses to create a healthy ecological landscape that reflects the sizable pool design while also appealing to local wildlife. Once we selected the pool site, the biggest challenge of the was to incorporate the pool into the existing topography without impacting the drainage patterns. The landscape architects used creative grading solutions to maintain the water path, limit erosion, and eliminate pooling. This foresighted planning produced a beautifully landscaped area that contributed to a visually appealing property and worked well in its location. In the end, the clients welcomed home a beautifully landscaped area perfect for retreat, relaxation, and entertaining.
