Chicago Specialty Gardens, Inc. 4-Season Roof Garden Chicago Specialty Gardens, Inc. features the '4-Season Roof Garden,' which is a beautiful urban garden that can bloom and grow in all seasons. Located on a new construction building in downtown Chicago, this fresh landscape showcases our quality and design-forward approach to landscapes. Composed of a mix of perennials, ornamental grasses & evergreen shrubs, the 4-Season Roof Garden is a riot of colour and/or texture throughout the year. This garden features calming elements such as a water feature and custom-cut bluestone paths the stone was quarried locally and the paths were hand placed to fit with the surrounding landscape. However, one of the main difficulties was the structural situation on the rooftop itself, so we needed to plan and engineer the garden to make sure its weight was well-distributed. The lightweight soil mix and unique drainage systems that our team collaborated with structural engineers to develop were carefully managed for plant health, allowing the plants to grow and flourish without negatively impacting the safety of the building. The end result is amazing landscape that not only makes the building look even prettier but also is a peaceful escape for the people who live in it. This garden shows off all four seasons: In spring, everything is bright and blooming; in winter, the evergreens are dusted with snow. Our client was thrilled with the results and said that the garden has now become her favourite area to sit and socialise in and has also added value to the property.
