Old Town Pocket Garden The 'Old Town Pocket Garden' is a landscaping that transforms a corner lot in the heart of a busy urban neighborhood, and is the pride of Chicago Specialty Gardens, Inc. An award-winning serene urban garden oasis that captures seasonal change whilst providing retreat, intimacy, and vibrancy; symbolic of our passion for quality craftsmanship in a small display of space. Our new started with a thoughtful study of the specific conditions posed on the site, such as a lot size limited in both direction and the harsh presence of bright sun in small pockets of the yard. We did wonders with the area through innovative design techniques bringing in a seamless harmony of textures and colours with our skilled team. We made sure to use to quality materials with natural stone pathways for durability and sustainability, combined with sustainably sourced hardwood decking and retaining walls. At the heart of the garden's design is a beautiful selection of native plants, adapted to the regional climate. A mix of colourful perennials that bloom for several months and ornamental grasses that add movement and interest, each plant was selected for its ornamental value and ecological contribution. One of the added features we have is a calming water feature that acts as both a centerpiece and natural white noise, encouraging wildlife and biodiversity in the area. It was our job as a team to weave the modernism into the historic character of Old Town and create a unified and respectful final product. Working hand in hand with the client also meant we could integrate those little custom touches like bespoke seating areas and creative features that were imperative to the unique vision held by the client. Once created, the 'Old Town Pocket Garden' now serves as a favourite meeting place in the community and a green enclave where people can relax together. Overjoyed, the clients have shared how this garden has changed the feeling of their home and community.
